Dr Singh has not yet introduced a Private Member's Bill; he has instead pressed the Government to bring legislation directly — notably on a legal right to MSP.

What he raises

The issues, by category.

  1. 01

    Minimum Support Price

Repeated interventions pressing the Union Agriculture Minister to legislate a statutory MSP — the single most important demand of the Punjab farmer movement.

  2. 02

    Agricultural land acquisition

Compensation norms and process transparency for farmers whose land is acquired for infrastructure projects.

  3. 03

    Halwara Airport & rail connectivity

Operationalisation of Halwara Airport and improved rail routing through the Khanna industrial belt in Fatehgarh Sahib.

  4. 04

    Food grain procurement

Public distribution system, FCI operations, and state-procurement shares — leaning on his tenure as CMD, FCI.

  5. 05

    Drug abuse in Punjab

Questions pressing for federal coordination with the Punjab state enforcement and public-health response.

  6. 06

    EPF and pension concerns

Pension corpus, EPF withdrawal rules, and retirement-benefit delays for government and private-sector workers.

  7. 07

    MSMEs & industrial relief

Credit access and regulatory load for small industry — particularly relevant to the Khanna and Mandi Gobindgarh industrial clusters.

  8. 08

    Healthcare & environment

Public-health infrastructure, air quality in North India, and medical supply-chain questions raised occasionally.

Focal moment

The petition for a legal MSP.

On the floor of the Lok Sabha and, separately, through a formal memorandum handed to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Dr Singh has pressed for statutory — rather than administrative — backing for the Minimum Support Price of wheat and paddy.

MSP is not a promise. It must be a law. For Punjab's farmer, every season of paddy and every season of wheat turns on this single word: statutory.
